    Longarm Quilt Project 1

Very first ever quilt completed on a longarm machine. Images show the quilt before the border was added. Label sewn into the backing before quilting. One simple design across the entire quilt.

  • Welcome!

    Welcome!

Hello fellow quilters and curious readers! My name is Geri, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the first entry of my brand-new blog. Now that I’m retired, I finally can devote more time and energy to the hobby that has brought me so much joy.

    Why Quilting? A Lifelong Passion

For as long as I can remember, fabric, patterns, and my sewing machine have been a steady presence in my life. From simple patchwork throws to lovingly stitched gifts, quilting and sewing have always been more than a pastime for me—it’s been a creative escape, a form of meditation, and a way to bring comfort and beauty into the world.

I have to admit that time to dive into quilting or any type of sewing or crafts depended on what was going on with family. Sometimes, hobbies just take a back seat to children, jobs, and life’s major events. My learning and progress wasn’t a straight line by any stretch of the imagination. Even the type of sewing I engaged in depended on the events and people in my life.

    Turning a New Page

Retirement marked the start of an exciting new chapter with my sewing and quilting. No more rushing to squeeze in a few stitches between work and chores—now, my days are filled with fabric, color, and the endless possibilities that quilting offers. I’m eager to explore new techniques, revisit old favorites, and, most of all, share this adventure with others who are just as passionate about quilting as I am.

Though I still do engage in other types of sewing, quilting is something that inspires me the most. I’ve recently invested in my own Longarm Quilting machine recently. I’m sure there’ll be a learning curve.

What to Expect from This Website

I’m a novice at longarm quilting so this should be fun!

    Let’s Quilt Together!

I truly believe quilting is about connection—between stitches, between people, and across generations as much as a creative outlet. As I embark on this new journey, perhaps you’ll find a little extra inspiration to start (or continue!) your own quilting adventure.

Thank you for joining me at the beginning of this journey. Here’s to many quilts, new friends, and joyful creativity. Stay tuned for my first project reveal—I can’t wait to show you what’s on my design wall!

    Happy quilting,

    Geri

P.S. The new Longarm is in my sewing room!
